This is the face (I bet hindsight bothers him now), a few years gone, of one of the nastiest foreign expatriates that work unlawfully in Indonesia. He commits crimes in Bali and feeds like a leach off the Balinese while they go hungry; his name is John Millard Daniels, AKA Jack Daniels, former PATA Bali Chapter chairman and evidence shows him to be a psychopathic dog who works with corrupt police officers to try and kill someone. I stress what you read here are documented facts and like many criminals in Bali, JM Daniels is not behind bars only because he works with corrupt police, like Made Pastika, who are his fellow anti-Balinese dogs in crime.Brief History
After competitor Mark Austin caught Daniels' travel agency cheating on the Internet offering hotel rates they (Bali Discovery Tours) could not honour (a common trick by Indonesian agents called "bait and switch", where you get someone's credit card details under false pretenses and then oblige them into booking another hotel through your company), Jack Daniels started paying the corrupt Balinese police money to conduct unlawful "investigations" (harassment and threats) against Mr. Austin; these are recorded facts. When Mr. Austin stood up for himself and his legal rights, then took things further by trying to sue American Daniels in the USA which threatened to officially confirm Daniels had been acting unlawfully, even illegally, Daniels made it quite clear he wanted Englishman Mark Austin dead.
Death Threats
Jack Daniels wanted Englishman Mark Austin murdered; this is an easy thing to do in Bali as a foreign human life costs only 20,000 USD or so to terminate through a hitman, likely an off duty policeman, although not necessarily off duty. Documented details emerged of death threats being made against Mr. Austin then by Balinese police officers too. At first Daniels simply got the police to check foreign arrivals at Bali International Airport for the Englishman as he knew Austin was still coming to Bali. Trouble for Jack is that Mark apparently knew what the game was and came in via Jakarta airport, clearing immigration there and then catching an internal flight into Bali which was not checked by Balinese immigration and therefore Mark slipped through the police "net". Because Bali's police were acting unlawfully, they could not apply for a watch order with the whole Indonesian immigration system in Jakarta, so the police appointed Jack Daniels as a police "deputy"; don't laugh, it is true. This fact is recorded in a police document which Mark Austin was able to buy through a bent lawyer in Bali; are there any other kind?
Illegal Police Acts
The police illegally furnished Daniels with copies of Mark Austin's passport, which they had unlawfully seized and photocopied in their earlier unlawful investigation against the Englishman. The corrupt police officers involved stupidly and incredibly recorded in an official police memo the fact they agreed Daniels could appoint "private detectives", which Austin also got a copy of. The police gave Daniels a copy of Austin's passport because it had his photograph on it, so that Daniels could make copies and pass them to his team of private detectives, mainly in the North of Bali where Austin had connections and was rumored to still be frequently visiting; so they could report any sitings of Mr. Austin back to Daniels. You of course will ask why the Balinese police did not pass around copies of Mr. Austin's photo with their own police officers in the north of the island but instead used the services of John M Daniels; the answer speaks for itself.
Legal Proof
Recently, concrete proof of all this came when one of Jack Daniels' "private detectives" (Dutchman and gay illegal villa salesman Bert Vierstra Lovina) gave a copy of Mark Austin's passport to a friend of his, who also disliked the Englishman; his name is Roy Thompson of Ubud, a local narcotics dealer who sells to school children. Roy Thompson then stupidly published details of Mr. Austin's passport on the Internet, including his copied passport photo and the exact details you get from a passport (full name, date of birth, place of birth). This photo and these personal details could not have come from anywhere else except the Balinese police.
Police Corruption Payments
But it gets worse. Despite Jack Daniels' team of private detectives scouring Northern Bali for poor Mark Austin, they never found him. Jack Daniels had already paid at least 3000 USD to corrupt police officers for them to agree to afflict the Englishman whenever and wherever they could, but now John Millard was going to take things to another nasty level. Knowing Mark Austin lived in Phuket, Thailand he paid the Balinese police another 3000 USD to have Mr. Austin's name placed on the regional Interpol watch list as a suspected insurgent. It is a fact the police then did this, the evidence exists from sworn statements by several people who were shown the Interpol file on Mr. Austin by the Balinese police. Just to set the record straight, there are clear conditions for placing an Interpol watch order on someone (e.g. thye have to be convicted of or charged with certain serious crimes - see here); the only legal documented investigation against Mr. Austin was however an alleged cases of criminal libel against, you got it, Jack Daniels! And guess who is said to have signed the Interpol watch order? Yes, you have it again, that dog of a police chief Made Pastika!
Attempted Murder By Jack Daniels
Details of Mr. Austin's whereabouts, his home address and his movements in and out of Thailand were fed by the Thai police under that Interpol watch order to the Balinese police who in turn gave that information directly to Jack Daniels. This is known to be true because of the submission by Jack Daniels in his failed domain dispute with Austin at the WIPO. What this publicly available document does not show you however are the pleadings made by both sides. The pleadings by Jack Daniels actually stated Mr. Austin's home address in Phuket; but how did Jack know Mark Austin's home address? It was not available publicly! This need to boast about what Daniels' knew about Mark Austin actually saved the Englishman's life, as it came at the same time as Thai gangsters arrived at the estate where Mr. Austin lived; they were demanding to know where Mr. Austin's house specifically was. Alerted to this fact by the estate security and realizing how had paid for them to pay him a visit, Mr. Austin and his family were able to flee their home before a bullet paid for by Daniels was put into his head.
You may baulk at all of this in utter incredulous amazement and disbelief, but these are all documented facts, including a telephone death promise to Mr. Austin from John M. AKA Jack Daniels in Bali. So why if this is all true is Daniels not in jail? Because policemen in Indonesia do not go to jail and putting Daniels in jail for this would also require putting senior police officers such as Made Pastika, potentially the next Bali Governor in jail too.
The evidence against John M. Daniels is well documented and considerable. He works with corrupt police officers to commit human rights abuse against others and he tried to have someone murdered. Unfortunately Mark Austin's civil case against Daniels in the USA failed, but don't let the pro-Daniels anti-Austin pundits fool you about why. Mark's case against Daniels had to go through the process of being filed locally at state level where they always play safe and opt for defense where possible. Then you appeal and it goes through the appeal courts and possibly even to the Supreme Court; you expect at the outset to have to do this. Unfortunately for Bali, Mark Austin's lawyers made a mistake and filed their motion two days after the deadline, so it was thrown out on procedural grounds, nothing else. If it had been filed on time, it is almost certain Daniels would either be in an Indonesian jail or deported by now. Mark Austin apparently got all of his money back, but a curse on Austin's lawyer anyway for not getting rid of this American bum.
I personally hate Jack Daniels because he has cheated and lied his way through his life here in Bali. He does nothing except take money from the Balinese as he simply runs a domestic travel agency. Not only this, all of Daniels' senior staff are Javanese or foreigners, not Balinese. He does not support any charities, he is just "take, take, take". His personal life is sleazy too and revolves solely around local whore houses often through his local resident expat pimp "friend" Bill Warden; that is why Jack Daniels only talks about his colleagues' private lives on Bali Discovery's web site, not his own.
